A 'River Wandle Companion'

River Wandle Companion book cover

is the first general guide to the whole river for some fifteen years, and the largest volume on the river since Hobson’s Book of the Wandle nearly a century ago.

The first half of the book looks at the river thematically with chapters on the river’s history as an industrial area and a playground for the wealthy; its wildlife, hydrology and regeneration. The second half contains a stage by stage guide to the Wandle Trail, with notes on the historical features of interest along the river banks.

Follow this link to the page of contents for more detail.

Lavishly illustrated with almost 200 pictures, most in colour, and over 40 maps, this book is a must-have for those with an interest in the river.

Theo Pike, Chairman of Trustees of the Wandle Trust writes: "Essential reading for anyone who has ever wandered along the Wandle’s banks, remembered this famous little river’s hard-working history, or wondered about its future."

The River Wandle Companion is available in paperback and hardback, with discounts for multiple copies. Contact us directly if you wish to buy more than three copies.
